Professionals often pick a certificate by what is being talked about. A better method runs backwards: define the next career step, then ask what evidence that step requires.
If the next step is graduate school
GMAT for MBA programs, GRE for most other master's and doctoral programs. These are not professional certificates — they are admissions requirements, and their value outside an application is close to zero.
Which means: invest only when you are reasonably sure you will apply within 12 to 24 months, since scores expire.
If the next step is project management
PMP is widely recognised and appears regularly in management job descriptions. Unlike the GMAT it carries direct labour-market value, but it requires real project experience to qualify for the exam.
ECBA is lighter, suited to someone entering business analysis.
If the next step is moving into data
The Data/BA group suits people changing roles without a technical background. It is also the fastest-moving group, so a course's revision date matters more than its reputation.
If the issue is foundational English
TOEIC measures workplace English and remains the standard many Vietnamese employers use for pay and promotion decisions. TOEFL serves academic purposes.
One criterion across all of them
Whichever group you choose, check whether the certificate can be verified online. Vietdemy's completion certificate is issued automatically once assessment requirements are met, is verifiable, and can be posted to a professional profile — without that, the value stops at your own confidence.
