When comparing two hotel rates, most travellers look at the number and click. The four lines of small print underneath decide how much you lose if plans change.
Four conditions to read
Cancellation policy. Non-refundable, partially refundable, or free until a specific cut-off. A rate 15% cheaper but non-refundable becomes far more expensive if the trip slips a week.
Whether breakfast is included. For a family of four across five nights, this can exceed the difference in room rate.
Fees collected at the property. Many hotels charge a resort fee, city tax or deposit at check-in — none of it in the displayed price.
Terms for children and extra beds. "Free for children under 12" usually carries a condition about using existing bedding.
Why TripWise shows these before payment
Since 18 September 2026, TripWise.vn has connected to international inventory through WebBeds. An API connection means availability, pricing and booking conditions are read exactly as the supplier publishes them, at the moment you search.
That matters more than appearance: in a dispute, the conditions you read are traceable back to the original supplier, not a summary rewritten by the seller.
One simple rule
If plans are not firm, a few percent is not worth trading for a non-refundable rate. If dates are locked and the visa is in hand, non-refundable is a reasonable choice.
